Hey everyone! Today we went to a place where they teach Cambodians the traditional arts such as making and weaving silk and carving stone. Below you will see the amazing and complicated loom.
Then we went by bus to Tonle Sap Lake. A very unique lake that takes back flow from the swelling Mekong river in the rainy season. So the flow changes throughout the seasons. It's 2,600 sq km in dry season and 12 000 in rainy season!! The people that use the lake for their livelihood live in "houseboats" called floating villages. Their entire community is on water. School, church, basketball court, etc
Thank you to Andrea and Kristi for our visit there today!
On the way back to town we stopped to watch the sunset and have a beer at a hammock bar. It was sooooo relaxing.
I have to admit that I ordered pizza for dinner. Sorry! Just needed a little taste of home :)

A high tech loom. Think I have one in the basement. Water looks a little murky. But the beer always looks good. love you guys, Auntie
ReplyDeleteyou are your father's daughter, aren't you? Never too far away to grab a pizza. What kind of toppings? And I have to tell you I love the idea of a hammock bar....
ReplyDeleteHow fun! It's warm here, but I'm not whining. Can't imagine how hot and humid it must be where you are. Thanks for the very interesting photos. Your room looks very nice. I'd take a gecko over a centipede. Fanny and I have been chasing them lately.
